Female Visitor Hurt In Rental Scooter Crash
Emergency services responded to a collision on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish yesterday [May 29] that involved a rental cycle.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 9:55am Tuesday, May 29th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a rental scooter crash on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Jennings Road.
“Initial information suggested that a car was involved. However, it now appears that the rental scooter was the only vehicle involved.
“Apparently the rider, said to be a 61 year old visiting UK woman, was traveling in the eastbound lane of North Shore Road when she struck a fence and ended up down an embankment.
“The injured female visitor was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and later discharged.
“There were no other injuries reported by her pillion passenger [husband].
“Traffic was diverted away from the area for approximately an hour while the scene was processed. Witnesses are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
